Caldwell 24, popularly known as the Perseus A, is a galaxy (NGC 1275) in the constellation Perseus — a distant island of stars far beyond the Milky Way. It appears as number 24 in the Caldwell catalogue, Sir Patrick Moore's 1995 list of 109 bright deep-sky objects for amateur astronomers. It spans roughly 2.2 arc-minutes on the sky. At about magnitude 12.2, it is a fainter object best hunted with a moderate telescope under dark skies.
