Cookie Policy
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. This page explains which cookies Universe Finder uses and how you can control them.
Your choice
When you first visit, a banner lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies. Analytics and advertising cookies are set only if you accept. You can change your mind any time by clearing your browser cookies for this site, which will make the banner reappear.
Cookies we use
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
uf_consent | Universe Finder | Remembers your cookie choice | Essential |
_ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics | Aggregate usage measurement | Analytics (consent) |
| Google ad cookies | Google AdSense | Serve and measure advertising | Advertising (consent) |
The essential uf_consent cookie contains only your preference and is required for
the consent choice to work.
Local storage on your device
Separately from cookies, the Site keeps a little data in your browser's local storage to remember your exploration. This never leaves your device and is not sent to us or any third party.
| Item | Purpose |
|---|---|
uf_passport | Your Cosmic Passport — objects and tours explored, favourites, milestones, mission progress |
uf_city | The city or approximate location you chose for “Tonight's Universe” |
uf_tonight_seen | Recently recommended targets, so tonight's suggestions stay varied |
uf_exped | Your Nightly Expedition preferences (equipment and available time) |
uf_seen, uf_greeted | Whether you've seen the welcome intro (so it isn't shown every visit) |
You can export or reset this data from the passport panel, or remove it by clearing your browser storage for this Site.
Managing cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and opt out of personalised ads at Google Ads Settings. Blocking essential cookies may affect how the consent banner behaves.
